If you don’t Zimboga, then I’m UNimpressed

Our Community

Zimboga is my style of yoga and to assist our quest for balance and yoking mind, body and spirit we have a community based on yoga, health and wellness.

Many people, for various reasons, are actually lonely. Good, solid relationships are key to a happy and healthy life. You may know people and call them friends but when you ask yourself how often you visit them at their homes or go out to dinner with them or go for a hike with them you’ll see that they are more acquaintances than friends. Our small Zimboga community seeks to address that ‘loneliness’ with a group of like-minded people interested in health and wellness.

We go out to dinner together, do physical activities together outside of class, do activities in the gym outside of class (like hang out in the hot-tub), exchange contact information and communicate through Facebook. As part of the Community building effort, I publish a ‘Zimboga Newsletter’ that lists upcoming events. I bring paper copies to class and post digital copies on Facebook.

My girlfriend said something to me that stuck in my mind. We see each other in class twice a week, sometimes more. Plus, we’re doing something challenging, fun and meaningful that creates bonds through the shared experience. This doesn’t happen with the same regularity with many people in our lives. I spend more time and energy with the people in our class than I do with my best buddy or my adult children. Ask yourself, who else do you spend as much time with in elective activities (i.e. exclude work which you must do). Go on, try it, make friends in class. You are always welcome to come early or stay late to ‘hang out’.

Along those lines, please invite people you think may be a good fit. You’re offering them a lot more than just a yoga class. We need a nice full class, a room of 30 people would lift me to cloud 9!
