Using the Yoga-Wheel in Zimboga

Here are some things you can do with your yoga wheel. As a man who once had his back broken (in military combat) I love this yoga prop. In Zimboga we use the yoga wheel almost every class. If you’re serious about getting the most from your Zimboga practice, invest in a yoga wheel.

Not all yoga wheels are equal. Most of us got ours from Amazon. Look for good reviews, a weight capacity of at least 550 lbs. The weight capacity is about breaking, not bending, we don’t want it bending. Look for a diameter of 13″ and a width of at least 4″. If you’re a petite person, say around 5′ tall then maybe a 12″ wheel is better. Wheels with a width of 6″ are better. A set of 3 wheels is a good idea if an additional $15 is in the budget. If it/they come with a carry bag you won’t regret having that for the walk to & from class. The wheel should last you a lifetime, choose wisely.

For the most part, we use the yoga wheel as a warm-up, back flexibility tool. We take a few minutes to use gravity and body weight to open our hips & shoulders and flex our spines by moving the wheel along the length of our backs.
